Vietnam places its mark on the international cuisine map

On October 12, 2019, the World Travel Awards (WTA) for Asia and Oceania was held at Vinpearl Convention Center Phu Quoc (Kien Giang Province). At this year's season, Vietnam was awarded the "Asia's Leading Food Destination". Although it has been popular and recognized for a long time in the eyes of visitors, culinary experts and international media, this is the first time Vietnamese cuisine has been recognized by a prestigious world-class award organization.

In particular, Vietnam is also being nominated for the title of the world's leading culinary destination 2019 of the World Travel Awards. This is a golden opportunity to honor, promote and affirm the Vietnamese cuisine brand in the international arena.

The cuisine is a unique quintessence in Vietnamese culture. It is no coincidence that Vietnamese cuisine is highly appreciated by international visitors, culinary experts and always wants to learn and explore. Pho, bread, spring rolls, bun cha, spring rolls, egg coffee, beef noodle, pancakes... are the special dishes that have made the brand and brought Vietnamese cuisine closer to the world.

Vietnamese cuisine is extremely rich, very delicate and typical of each region. The natural elements with the long coastline or the cultural diversity of the 54 ethnic groups are favorable conditions for Vietnamese cuisine with abundant, fresh ingredients and many featured dishes.

In particular, Vietnamese cuisine is also a combination of ingredients and spices flexibly according to the principle of "Yin Yang - Wu Xing" in order to achieve the harmonious beauty according to the aesthetic standards of Vietnamese people, bring all the richness of natural flavors, balance the nutritional value in the body.

With these characteristics, Vietnam has become a destination for many famous chefs in the world culinary village. Chefs like Australian-Vietnamese Chef Luke Nguyen, British Chef with much popular reality show Gordon Ramsay, British Chef Jamie Oliver, legendary American cuisine Anthony Bourdain or New Zealand chef Bobby Chinn (also as Vietnam Tourism Ambassador in Europe for the 2014-2017 term) ... there have been many reports about Vietnamese cuisine and broadcast on major media channels of the world.

CNN (USA) voted Vietnam's cuisine as one of the 10 best cuisines in the world. American travel magazine Condé Nast Traveler once likened that Vietnamese bread is one of the best street food in the world. Or like the Vietnamese pho, which is voted as one of the must-try dishes in life by the famous Business Insider magazine. Spring rolls are also voted by the CNN channel as one of the 10 most popular dishes in the world…

It can be seen that cuisine is a potential and effective advertising channel for Vietnam tourism. The selection and award of "Asia's leading culinary tourism destination" affirm the impression of Vietnamese cuisine on the world cuisine map, as an opportunity to strongly promote Vietnam's tourism image with outstanding values, including culinary elite to numerous of international friends.
